The long line of games has spanned various consoles over the years, and continues to bring innovative and genuinely creepy gameplay to our screens. This trend continues with the latest release for the PSP and PSP Go!- Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

This game is actually a port of the Wii version released last year, and the transaction to the small screen has been surprisingly successful. The formula for Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is familiar but welcome; you play Harry Mason, who wakes up after a car crash to find his daughter missing within Silent Hill. This derelict place ranges from forboding creepiness to outright terror as its demonic inhabitants begin to reveal themselves, and the PSP's graphical edge doesn't disappoint.

Some interesting and innovative gaming ploys are used in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Firstly, the much discussed 'running' sequences from the Wii version are carried through. These find Harry defenceless and thus only able to run from his pursuers, and thus you engage in a terrifying interactive scene as you attempt to escape from those nipping at your heels.

Secondly, as players progress through the story, the gameplay is interspersed with sections involving Harry discussing life with a psychologist. This character will ask him general questions about life, his attitude to women etc. The answers you select will actually have an impact on the various places you visit and the characters/enemies you face. This clearly opens Silent Hill: Shattered Memories up for multiple playthroughs to see everything.

This game definitely continues the long line of great offerings from the Silent Hill series; combining the tried and tested formula with new and innovative gameplay elements. If you're a fan of the famously creepy survival horror, then Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a clear choice!

One aspect of both the PSP and PSP Go which has always been popular is the ability to link the device to a TV screen and play the games on the big screen. However, the transfer of a small image to the big screen does take its toll a little on the picture quality. Therefore, one of the highly anticipated upcoming PSP Go accessories is the gold plated video cable. This gold plating offers optimal video and audio output, giving a clearer and crisper display.

Finally, and probably most promising, is the news that renowned hardware company Logitech may be producing an external UMD drive for the PSP Go. One of the biggest gripes with this device is that existing PSP owners cant use their UMDs with it. Therefore, Sony would likely benefit greatly if such a peripheral was created. Of all the upcoming PSP Go accessories, this would be the one which could propel the device into the favourites.
